This symposium looks incredible. Doubly incredible is that it coincides with the unit in my energy history class on plantation slavery as an energy regime. https://t.co/kjv8xd2e1T

Dr. Laura Phillips Sawyer's #HagleyHistoryHangout examines how early 20th Century American small businesses created an influential fair trade movement, forming lobbies & trade groups that helped create the modern American regulatory state. Now I’m trying to decide between keeping the copy that has the best annotations for teaching and the copy that’s the most aesthetically pleasing

culling books before the move and I have *so* many copies of Dreiser’s Sister Carrie. Why?? (UChicago Americanists know why)

Another coursework find: a 30 page essay from my Marx seminar with Moishe Postone called “Marx and Energy: Toward a “Social” Social Theory of Energy” which comes along with ~20 pages of type-written (yes, typewritten, in 2014 🤦‍♀️) fragments of notes.

Each book has about 20-30 pages of notes which I have no memory of taking and then a summary of “thoughts” (might be being too loose with that term) for each subsection. No idea how I passed with this strategy. Don’t recommend. https://t.co/FYFcKuZZ6r

Found my handwritten orals notes while going through papers before moving next week. Found this gem in my summary notes on Populism and the Progressive Era; “Modernity. What is it? Is it too slippery? Capital? Technology? ????? Ask for more readings.”
