#universalcredit

I remember being in Hoxton Jobcentre and hearing someone complain to their advisor that Universal Credit wasn't enough to live on. The advisor's reply was "you're not meant to live on it, it's there to tide you over until you find work." #UniversalCredit

So because I got redundancy pay (barely any and part of that was undertaken holiday) after being made redundant, this month I get £0 in universal credit. I've worked since I was 16, paid tax/NI. This month I will have to decide to either default on my Bills or feed the kids. 1/2

Absolute disgraceful system #UniversalCredit has never been fit for purpose but now maybe with others that HAVE to make the choice between eating or feeding their children will see why the @TheSun @DailyMailUK were wrong with their articles of #Benefits being a choice @RishiSunak https://t.co/fByjrDGzPP

Making me chuckle at how out of touch people are with #UniversalCredit . When there was no pandemic "All these bums buying TV's living a life of luxury". Now they need it? It's not enough, double it. Yeah £300-£400 isn't enough to live on. Welcome to reality. You only care NOW.

So have I got this right, @RishiSunak: No self-employed person will get any help now until January 2021 &, when they do, it’ll be just 20% (down from the previous 80% & 70%)? People have no work. This is going to drive people into Universal Credit & cost more in the long-term.

It’s mad that all these people were suggesting #UniversalCredit was for scroungers that did not want to work covered by the tax payer - what about the ones that couldn’t work who were negatively portrayed in the media mainly the @DailyMirror @TheSun when @ConHome came into power https://t.co/AxmK915DAD

@JenG1210 @blue_choo @Andy_Of_Glasgow Housing benefit does not exist anymore, the government thought it best that they get rid of it and it is included in the full costs of #universalcredit, I was let go from my job at the end of August due to self isolating not naming any names but I have struggled since no help

@EmmaSmileHolmes Unfortunately it's the unfairness of benefits side , ppl who never worked before are always almost better than ppl works. I barely pay my bills and worked always but my neighbor on benefits has two cars ( BMW), business and council flat. HOW'S THIS FAIR. #universalcredit

Time to tear up and Burn #universalcredit for the izal toilet paper it is.

@shane_r They’ll have to wait 6 weeks before they get owt! #universalcredit #Disgraceful

Gvmt needs to honour its manifesto commitment on Right to Retrain & act fast on job creation. And now more important than ever for Gvmt to do the right thing and #KeepTheLifeline: make the £20 #UniversalCredit uplift permanent & extend to legacy benefits.

Universal credit isn’t fit for purpose - just because your partner works, doesn’t mean you can both live off their salary - not fit for purpose #universalcredit #UniversalBasicIncome

Where's the financial support been for people taking A-Levels in October? There has been none. @RishiSunak @BorisJohnson @GavinWilliamson @piersmorgan #universalcredit #coronavirus #COVID19 #Government

Do you think the extra need for #UniversalCredit could have "possibly" been avoided using Sweden's herd community route, rather than stop...start plan uk used.

Some items to welcome but this late statement will not prevent a large rise in unemployment and the Government have hung some workers out and failed to tackle systemic problems with #UniversalCredit which will now hurt many more people https://t.co/HsUCNcVmFK

#UniversalCredit has been one of the few success stories during this Crisis for the government. It will need to continue to work well, as more people undoubtedly come into contact with the benefit system for the first time. Visit https://t.co/Nfl2y09QC0 & check your eligibility.

No new measures to help @ExcludedUK No increase to #StatutorySickPay No action to fix #UniversalCredit The chancellor's latest announcements still leave millions of people unprotected & unsupported ahead of a second wave #coronavirus
