When good intentions are misplaced we get pointless measures like removing an episode of Golden Girls from Hulu. Hollywood, let’s direct this energy into something purposeful, like investing in Black creators. https://t.co/LbqT7i6Cvu

Hats off to every organizer in LA whose tireless work is resulting in a reform of the school-to-prison pipeline. https://t.co/71p5kQhJrV

Today marks 4 yrs since Alton Sterling was murdered by the police in Baton Rouge. They said the officers who killed him acted in a “reasonable & justifiable manner.” They were never fired, but allowed to resign, keeping their pensions. For Alton, our fight for justice continues.

Each prison on this map is an incubator for the virus. The longer we go without a plan to remove the incarcerated from these hotbeds the more we willfully endanger people already serving their time. https://t.co/yn0CvadUVW

Getting Hollywood to divest from police isn't just getting COPS off the air. It's getting police consultants out of writers rooms. It's removing police presence from the set. It's a full reimagination of the way things work w/o unnecessary police presence. https://t.co/I7cF0uQObu

Facebook has provided a lot of "statements" about "changes." But it's not enough to have vague explanations and cosmetic tweaks. They have our demands. The ball is in their court. https://t.co/kIC6psRVR8

From the original American Revolution to @Kaepernick7 taking a knee, protest is one of the most American things we can do. I continue to stand in solidarity with those continuing to protest all over the country, whether the media is covering or not.

This 4th of July, I’m thinking about the fact that this country was founded on both protest and anti-Blackness. The fact that we celebrate acts like the Boston Tea Party but then many condemn the destruction of property more than they do the destruction of Black lives.

Recommended reading: @caroranwill’s piece over the long weekend. Let’s reexamine who and what we celebrate on the day of this country's independence. https://t.co/J4yvXz3wVD

If your big takeaway from a massive, coordinated harassment and doxxing campaign is that your platform “won” maybe you should rethink what type of platform you’re building. https://t.co/wE9Q0BVM2M https://t.co/R9T8c0wn6W

Funny how a competent woman doing her job sends men from Silicon Valley VCs into an angry, destructive frenzy. Did we learn nothing from Gamergate? I stand with @TaylorLorenz. https://t.co/4o7XCkKIxJ

Viola Davis ain’t playin with y’all. Someone give @violadavis her flowers. Queen. https://t.co/BzXhqvbUjL

.@violadavis had one eight-minute scene with Meryl Streep in Doubt and stole the entire film. She is a world class actress and she should be getting the opportunities and pay that reflect that. Period! https://t.co/M9aXChbr0D

Yes, nine Council Members voted against the #NYCBudget — but note that some of these members voted FOR the four new borough based jails, voted FOR rezonings that displaced BIPOC communities, & voted FOR other harmful policies. We need to ensure they address these harms too.

100%. The budget is important, but it's only part of a wider constellation of policies impacting the lives of Black people in the city. https://t.co/ILhvni46lb

Happy Birthday to Sylvia Rivera, a legend whose memory only grows stronger with every protest, every defiance of the police, and every trans woman empowered to stand up for their community.

Wherever police unions pay politicians, Black ppl pay for it with our lives. We have a choice: stop police unions from paying everyone off, or continue to let police unions block every change we want and need. https://t.co/sZ6yAvA9au

This is a failing grade. Police departments across the country are integrating technology they know for a fact doesn’t work, and corporations are eagerly helping them do so. Facial recognition technology should not exist, period. https://t.co/s7jXMhxUai

350 companies have pulled their ads from Facebook. @rashadrobinson joins us on #RMU to discuss the growing ad boycott. Tune in, watch #RolandMartinUnfiltered streaming onFacebook https://t.co/Knkkjjoyw9 YouTube https://t.co/kPQDxzrOLk Twitch https://t.co/nGPyjDTVKY

.@Facebook’s refusal to crack down on racism and hate speech pushed us to a point where we had no choice but to boycott. Listen to my chat about #StopHateForProfit on @NPR Morning Edition: https://t.co/zLVjBXtNyF

How does @NYCCouncil and @NYCMayor look at the past 3 weeks of protest and think “the people want us to shift NYPD funds into the DOE budget?” Did they think we wouldn’t notice this sleight of hand? When we say we want to defund the police, we mean it. https://t.co/SOeWA0ev9F

A @ColorOfChange study looked at 26 scripted series from 2017-18, that focused on criminal activity and found 78% of writers were white and that 20 of the 26 series had either no Black writers or just one staffed
