This is one of the most famous paintings in American history: Declaration of Independence. I decided to put red dots on all the men who held slaves. Next time someone puts them on a pedestal and says we can't question their judgement on guns or whatever, show them this image. https://t.co/oA6vjjzW8V

Ever since I made this, I’ve gotten notes from teachers, museums, journalists & even descendants of the founders thanking me for my work. Many folks ask if they can republish it and I have always given permission for $0. I only ask for credit! That’s it. https://t.co/iM75JD2sCT

"Cancel culture" is something that does not exist but is a very popular concept among people who do terrible things and don't like being held accountable

Absent the context of that broader case for abolishing or overhauling the Senate, it’s fundamentally anti-urban & anti-density, & racialized, to have that reaction that this is a weird model of representation only for a city, not, say, VT or WY.

Republicans are nominating unhinged conspiracy theorists to run for Congress. There is no parallel on the left. The parties are not mirror images. One has descended into anti-democratic reactionary mania. https://t.co/iKJJtiu7VB

Breonna Taylor can’t celebrate her inalienable rights today.

7/9 This is the heart of Simpson's paradox. If you pool data without regard to the underlying causality, you'll get erroneous results. https://t.co/lbPJF3A8WP

6/9 For instance, take AZ and TX. Cases AND deaths have both been increasing for weeks. FL looks similar (except their data sucks, so it's hard to analyze precisely). If you cone in on Miami and Houston, it's much worse. https://t.co/UGl0tBdK17

The entire parents in quarantine have it hard ‘debate’ has been bringing up an earthquake of rage in me for some reason. Took me a while to really process it and figure it out. I am a mom, I know down into bones what it means to not have help raising kids-

After I let the VP explain how I could “contribute,” I asked who would run social for WNYC if I took the position. I was told the reporters “could write their own tweets.” Essentially, my entire job was eliminated in that one sentence.

dershowitz put this grotesque smear on the harvard law school website, and when finkelstein complained about it to the dean, elena kagan (put on the supreme court by obama), she said she wouldn't remove it. that's what makes dershowitz possible: the institutions that protect him https://t.co/voGO4sC4mc

To understand the severity of the COVID surge in the United States, we need more than data about deaths, which lags. We also need hospitalization data, which was spotty in the spring. Now, the data is much more complete, @whet and @cohokelly explain: https://t.co/eNW4nlKcDX https://t.co/qa7bL1t23w

A small ray of sunshine in COVID-19 data. The numbers on how many people are hospitalized right now with the disease are reported more consistently by states. That means our aggregate statistics are much more complete than they used to be. https://t.co/gfYZhlO679

Remember: Every single far-right cause I have ever covered was either a money-making scam at its root, or it had one firmly attached at the hip. https://t.co/bCCPE2grAT

Reminder: Those who would "re-open" because "only" the elderly, minorities, poor, and disabled are dying - and not the young, white, wealthy, and able-bodied - have embraced the practice of eugenics, whether they know it, or not.

Always fun to hear the guys who banned a religion whine about “cancel culture.”

Just over three years later the statue of George III was torn down after the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence in New York.

“Unlike Trump, many others will use this Fourth to give thoughts and prayers for the 126,000 people in the country who have died since the start of the novel coronavirus pandemic, and the 2.7 million more sickened by the disease.” https://t.co/ZL4dMM0AqP
