I’ve got some OPINIONS on decisions being made around #COVID19 vaccines. First, the article’s debate is exactly why we insist on measuring racism, not race. The two are conflated here but availability must be conditioned on exposure to systemic racism. https://t.co/Et5HbooDe7

Friendly reminder, tomorrow if you’re free around 3 CST, we’ll be discussing the impact of COVID-19 on Black Chicago from an emotional, spiritual, and mental health standpoint, you won’t want to miss this event! https://t.co/cQ61vhaTxU

Most academics also have zero understanding of how the U.S. immigration system works. I will never forget the day a tenured faculty member asked me why I wasn't applying for U.S. citizenship because she overheard me talking about the difficulties of being an intl. student.

This!!!! I have had several visas and I hate people asking "why don't you just apply?!!!!" Academics, make sure to listen to your international students. I am happy to answer questions from anyone about this. https://t.co/2ob8PmVzDL

Authorities in the Chinese region of Inner Mongolia are on high alert after a suspected case of bubonic plague, the disease that caused the Black Death pandemic, was reported Sunday. https://t.co/14jvzGbU9Q

Bubonic plague cases are completely normal & expected. China – esp. Inner Mongolia province – as well as US southwestern states regularly have cases. Bubonic plague is 1 of 3 plague forms, typically caught in IM from contact w dead marmots. It's treatable with antibiotics. https://t.co/AwhzGogpfb

If we’re serious about opening academia to non-white folks, we need to start paying undergrad RAs. Very few can afford to volunteer 15+ hours per week with a full courseload and (rapidly rising) rent payments. Statements of solidarity are nice, but don’t open the door.

*NEW*: "Black and Latino people have been disproportionately affected by the coronavirus in a widespread manner that spans the country, throughout hundreds of counties in urban, suburban and rural areas, and across all age groups." https://t.co/DCLmGh17qY

This article completely glares over Indian Country. "The data also showed several pockets of disparity involving Native American people.” Seriously, that's all you can say? @NYTimes https://t.co/xszdQDsvfR

The bar to publish on racial health inequities is too low. So @mclemoremr @EdwinLindo @Lachelle_Dawn and I set a new bar in @Health_Affairs. Rule 1. NEVER reify biological race (it is not a thing) Rule 2. Examine racism as a cause of health inequities https://t.co/LKknR6ZnDN https://t.co/jRv7OQbji6
