Welcome to the Freedom Cafe! We trust you to make your own choices if you want to wear a face mask. And, in the same spirit of individual liberty, we allow our staff to make their own choices about the safety procedures they prefer to follow as they prepare and serve your food.

Ten reasons now is a great time to start cycling https://t.co/wUO8CJeE6o

I started cycling in January after overcoming unfounded safety and sweatiness fears. It's made me fitter and richer (my train was £8 return) and opened up London to me. If you haven't now's the time to try as it is socially distancing and more cycle infrastructure is going in https://t.co/ijtIzWuCKf

Actually many people on low-incomes drive to work to save money even though the time in traffic is not as productive & a waste. #COVID19 does not care who we are, where we live, or what we believe. Yet the pandemic continues to unleash a tsunami of hate and xenophobia, scapegoating and scare-mongering. That’s why I’m appealing for an all-out effort to end hate speech globally. https://t.co/ojh957xhQq

The way to enhance freedom of movement without raising the risk of infection is to create more space. Shutting streets to cars, so pedestrians can use them instead, is a good start. So is opening up golf courses, locked squares and other exclusive green places.

If you don't come out of this quarantine with empathy for the poor, the elderly, parents, the sick, single people who are now more lonely, the marginalised and vulnerable, and those who have to work in risky environments then you are doing it wrong.
