Well, some good news: The ⁦@nytimes⁩ added 669,000 net new digital subscribers, making the second quarter its biggest ever for subscription growth. The Times has 6.5 million total subscriptions, a figure that includes 5.7 million digital-only. https://t.co/5W7fsQhZqs

One of my proudest moments as a New Yorker is appearing alongside Pete Hamill in the 9/11 chapter of Ric Burns's documentary series on the city. He made me sound like a nerdy kid from Dubuque, which I am. Thank you Pete. https://t.co/a0wCV4DskT

Yes, the old Morandi Bridge in Genoa has been replaced. This story is about the moment when, tragically, it came apart. @jamesglanz & the great @gaia_pianigiani https://t.co/Pff29jRGg5

Many parents are consumed with the question of returning to school, and there is hunger for solid data, Dr. Anderson said. “They want to see the data to make them feel that they have a model that they can trust.” https://t.co/V84WOcGSPD

“Will the pandemic change the research culture or how results are made available in the future?” https://t.co/iP9SVlPoQQ

Among the biggest questions about school reopening: what happens if someone tests positive? Here's how an Indiana school reacted when faced with that conundrum just this week, and how NYC and other districts are planning to manage: https://t.co/YJhJmD5ZrF

So honored to have the last word in this @nytimes article. Thanks to @jamesglanz and @bencareynyt for an insightful interview conversation on how parents might use this tool to increase trust in #SchoolReopening decision making. https://t.co/ncCbk5yeon

Thank you for the wonderful interview and walking us through a sprawling topic, Dr. Anderson. https://t.co/haZ4lLOlxK

Many families are facing a difficult choice: Should children attend if schools reopen their classrooms and risk being exposed to the coronavirus? New estimates show that large parts of the U.S. would likely see infected students if classrooms opened now. https://t.co/sxf85cibAF

80% of Americans live in a county where at least 1 infected person would be in a school of 500 the first week of school. https://t.co/RzsWtz6HsZ

Fauci rejects study that hydroxychloroquine saved lives, calling it "flawed" and telling a GOP congressman "it doesn't matter" it was peer reviewed. "You can peer review something that's a bad study," Fauci says, pushing back on the use of the drug that Trump frequently touts https://t.co/40FNddSzCJ

How many people would come to school infected with coronavirus if schools opened today? The answer depends on the size of the school and the severity of the outbreak in the surrounding community.

NEW: Schools in NYC will only reopen IF the city can maintain a test positivity rate below 3 percent, de Blasio just announced. We are currently hovering between 1-2 percent. We've got a long way to go between now and the first day of school on Sept. 10.

As decisions loom for parents, teachers and pols, modelers estimate the chance that a child infected with the coronavirus will show up at any school in the US. Results range from sobering to reassuring. @jamesglanz @bencareynyt @mathisonian @joshkellerjosh https://t.co/V84WOcGSPD

How did the COVID-19 virus spread aboard the Diamond Princess cruise? A new analysis led by Harvard Chan researcher Parham Azimi concluded that small airborne droplets accounted for 60% of transmission. https://t.co/T0M8Gonmsf

@ChalkbeatNY Absolutely not okay with this. This just demonstrates how harmful it is to open schools in the middle (beginning?) of a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. All of these school closures will be chaotic&stressful for parents. We should be remote until it is safe and there is an effective vaccine

Striking to see teachers push for schools to remain closed until we are all vaccinated. What would a full year or even longer of no in person school mean for children? https://t.co/g9kT0tbX4b
