Need to re-evaluate what I'm doing here - so I'm gone for a while. I'd de-activate but given time spent not sure that's best at moment. I come here to hang with buds as much as anything but not sure the rest is worth it. email: ian dot s dot livingston at gmail

This guy 🙄 (tx had a record today and “flattening” around 10k a day is great news) Pence pointed to flattening rates of positive coronavirus tests in the hard-hit Sun Belt states of Arizona, Florida and Texas and called for Americans to “keep doing what you’re doing.” https://t.co/meq0CPAUqG

It’s a good day to point out that a photo of a tornado taken near Jasper, Minnesota, on this date (July 8th) in 1927, has been utilized on album covers by Deep Purple, Miles Davis, and Siouxsie & the Banshees. #mnwx #tornado #deeppurple #milesdavis #siouxsieandthebanshees https://t.co/KWy8lHczMB

“In the past few days, we’ve seen almost 500 new cases, & we had several large events just over two weeks ago, so I guess we just connect the dots,” Why guess? If thousands willingly flout, wouldn't officials pay special attention to learn about spread? https://t.co/SxffouXooI

Not sure if it's the rise of the influential end of worlders here or just that our penchant for religion has always made us fairly irrational. Why wear a mask when God is saving me? Maybe god sent you a mask, dimwit.

Indoor congregations, where people speak loudly, sing, or shout, are the most dangerous places to be just now: this includes bars, churches, temples, and rallies. We need to follow the best science we know: and that is what we know NOW! https://t.co/WVJ20t81qN

Some of the biggest early outbreaks of covid were from indoor religious institutions... one of the clearest ways to spread from the start. I think at least we can now be honest that many Americans are too stubborn or stupid or both to care. https://t.co/OOxRWqaSvU

Day 13 of 90 or higher in a row for #DC. Puts us in the top 10 percent of years since 1872 for lengthiest heat waves. Longest streak since 2016, which also reached 13 days. https://t.co/4oHmlZwHIm

Comet Neowise (C/2020 F3) above the @NWSBoulder / KFTG radome this morning. Easily naked eye visible before sunrise and definitely the best comet for viewing in decades. Set the alarm for any time in the next week and look for it low on the horizon in the NE! ☄️ #Neowise https://t.co/PfJ3ZU83M6

Hogan Gidley: Are you better off now than you were before? The answer undoubtedly is yes. Brian Kilmeade: With the pandemic, growth is not there & unemployment is at 11%. So at least because of the pandemic, you can't really say that, right? Gidley: Of course you can say that. https://t.co/yoIRklOyBh

I like the warm season way more than the cold season in general, but this one is wearing fast. I dunno if it's that we've been cooped up so long that it sucks that outside sucks or what.

Not to say all sunny days are easy to forecast, etc. There are nuances that are important. But people mostly care if the forecast is right on the tricky days... and the forecasts are good but you see plenty of short range trash too (including from myself).

I find that people's perceptions of forecasts aren't that bad in general. I wonder how many forecasters include all the sunny day stretches in their accuracy stats. I could predict much of Sept/Oct around here with decent skill right now.
