“Espy, the first African American from MS to serve in Congress since Reconstruction, argues that @TheDemocrats lack of interest in his campaign is symptomatic of a deeper failure to understand how MS’s shifting demographics give him a legitimate shot.” https://t.co/7bY0qNZWMI

Given what has been happening on my twitter feed all day, let me be clear: I will not be bullied into silence by anyone. No matter what your politics may be or what your account of how we got into this mess might suggest about me.

Democrats and the press can’t attribute any sense of normality to this process. The qualifications of the nominees do not matter. We can’t cover this as if it’s business as usual. No. This is a crass power grab that threatens our democracy. 2/

Let’s be clear: Republicans can’t be shamed by the obvious fact of their hypocrisy. What the hypocrisy reveals is that they stole a Supreme Court seat when they refused to consider the nomination of Garland. That fact makes this entire process illegitimate. 1/

Good morning. We're in the last gasp of minority rule. In 2021, we will fix the democracy the GOP has broken: a modern, expanded Court, an end to the Jim Crow relic filibuster, a Right to Vote const amendment and statehood. A republic if we can keep it. 1st stop: flip the Senate.

"He got hit on the knee with a canister of tear gas," President Trump says, of @AliVelshi, who was actually hit by a rubber bullet. "Wasn't it really a beautiful sight? It's called law and order." https://t.co/sVvnZUft5B

Say that @MsPackyetti !!

Whatever the political differences were in 2016 let’s put them aside for the moment and recognize the existential threat we face as a Republic. Those disagreements can be fought at another time. We need EVERYONE on the field.

How do you mourn the loss of a great champion for justice like Ruth Bader Ginsburg? You mourn deeply & you vow to continue her work with even greater resolve. Her death must bring us to life.

Having interviewed GOP supporters for years - many care mainly, only, about courts. Little else matters - people I’ve interviewed literally lay down on the tracks of life for the courts. While everyone else is concerned about trumps tweets...they follow his judicial appointments

Senator McConnell in a new statement on the passing of Justice Ginsburg: “President Trump’s nominee will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate.” https://t.co/Ll70aFnaYA

There is NO middle ground. Choose a side.

Damn...the trouble is deeper than we think.

William Barr is a ZEALOT for the imperial presidency—for basically unlimited executive power. As such, he rejects the basic form of our democratic system. And he is willing to do ANYTHING to defend his view. @JoeNBC @Morning_Joe @WillieGeist

Barr comparing Covid-19 lockdown to slavery is offensive. The lockdown saved thousands of lives. Slavery was a lockout of lives & against God & humanity. To compare the two is as racist as Jefferson Davis becoming President of the Confederacy. Barr should be removed from office.
