It really feels to me like a mistake for newspapers to endorsements in national politics — does more to drive suspicion of the news pages than to convince voters. https://t.co/vlEiGMDC4e

"We need to think outside the narrative. American companies also make their products attractive in emerging markets, which means entry level devices with minimal protections. People at the bottom of the economic ladder get the poorly secured devices." @kudathove #FIFAfrica20

The entire Trump administration is a lesson in what happens when we don’t prosecute white collar crime. Manafort, Cohen, Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric, and Donald himself all should have been sidelined years ago by prosecutors—and now each has faced white collar sanctions since 2018.

Every Republican in congress has chosen, over and over again, to let a criminal ransack the government for years in order to better pursue the higher cause of cutting the corporate income tax and making it harder for people to get health care benefits.

He’s broke, he lives in our house, and he’s been stealing from us.

To summarize the NYT story: Trump got a bunch of $ from his daddy. He lost it all, but then he got paid hundreds of millions to play a billionaire on TV. He tried to use that $ to become a real billionaire, but he lost it all again. Now he's starting over, but we're his daddy.

In 2016, Trump paid $129,250 more to Stormy Daniels than to the USA government.

There's so much in these tax returns that are not *just* about Trump, but about how the rich have different rules. A worker earning an hourly wage can't deduct "business expenses" from their income. A teacher can't carry over losses for a decade.

We should take it as a compliment when people attack us personally or when people misrepresent our work. Because that means they can’t challenge what we are actually saying or writing or meaning or doing. Take the compliments with grace and move on.

This is important information for activists worldwide, not just in the US. Here are two simple things you can do to protect yourself from surveillance. #digitalrights #mediadev #privacy https://t.co/L0O1GglpQ9

💯 I always come back to the statistic that ~90% of people on Facebook are outside the US/Canada. And that FB clumps together Africa, Latin America & other regions as “rest of world”. Fits into a broader pattern of treating pple outside the US as expendable, even from FB critics https://t.co/r2jcHuqPZV https://t.co/OgzxhtrfSR

Facebook (free basics) in #Africa. Any serious "alternative" Facebook oversight board, unless it labels itself as a "country-focused" rather than a global initiative, will have enough African representatives to understand the impact of the new forms of #digitalcolonialism today. https://t.co/XFCAe8AhGg

The only good part of any Supreme Court confirmation hearing is when the nominee, inevitably a former professor and appellate judge, claims to have never really thought much about Roe v Wade or what to do in abortion cases.

This sure seems like an unequivocal impeachment-level bribe! https://t.co/fdmmRkn7Y2 via @slate

Local news is foundational to our democracy, but it has been pushed to the brink. @SenBrianSchatz, @SenAmyKlobuchar, & I introduced legislation to create a commission to understand how Congress can support local journalism while protecting the free press.https://t.co/LdMKTtgWky

Glad to see this effort to support the Future of Local News Act, as @PENamerica notes: more than 1,800 local newspapers have shuttered in last 15 years. The threats to press freedom in the US are real and we need strong local media now more than ever. #FreedomOfThePress https://t.co/vaYrDRTfMd

The World Federation of Advertisers and social media platforms have reached an agreement on definitions of hate speech and other harmful content. This could have a major impact on the news industry, especially smaller outlets, and journalistic content. https://t.co/99ZXpYGmMo
