Researchers from BBSRC-funded @Rothamsted have unpicked a promising technique that makes maize more productive even in droughts. More: https://t.co/JZlIVbLPaE

Maize has been a fruitful model organism for research in genetics for many years, including by many UKRI researchers...

However, little of this maize is eaten directly by humans. Most is used to make corn ethanol, animal feed and other maize products, such as corn starch and corn syrup.

Maize (called corn in some countries) is a member of the grass family Poaceae. It is a cereal grain and is now the third most important cereal crop in the world.

Evidence suggests that infected people who never develop symptoms - asymptomatic carriers - can also transmit #COVID19. While pre-symptomatic carriers are a source of infection, the role of asymptomatic carriers is less clear.
