Ground Spoilers are used during landing or during a rejected takeoff, where all spoiler panels are extended to their maximum angle.

Ground spoilers maximise wheel brake efficiency by dumping lift and also help slow the aircraft by producing aerodynamic drag. https://t.co/mhDyD7Omhf

Speedbrakes and Spoilers

Seen here on one of our @AirTanker Voyagers, many spoiler equiped aircraft, have a speedbrake function too.

Wing panels are symetrically extended by the pilot, to either aid in slowing down or increase rate of descent. https://t.co/w3pbaoAHe4

Following the procedure allows aircraft to be;
- Sufficiently separated
- An easier way for ATC to control aircraft
- Allows pilots to plan their approach
- Pilots can manage aircrafts energy
- Keeps aircraft in the CTR, therefore providing a level of protection vs other aircraft https://t.co/aRYPlQsHn4

Ever wondered why some BZZ arrivals follow a tear drop to land?

BZZ has procedural approachs defined and published. This involves A/C flying over a fix, flying away from the airport while descending, then at a set point turning back towards the airport aligned with the RWY. https://t.co/tPJCEd4kNq

Standard instrument departures (SID)

During departure aircraft may sometimes follow a SID, depending on the type of flight, which are published procedures

These producers strike a balance between terrain/obstacle avoidance, noise abatement and airspace management. https://t.co/OwxJIJFK6u

The CTR exists to allow the protection of our large, un-manoeuvrable aircraft, based at BZZ, during the critical stages of recovery and departure.

The area around BZZ can get very congested with Gloucester, Abingdon, Fairford and Oxford airport in close proximity. https://t.co/Ct00ksaqPV

Brize Norton (BZZ) Air Space.

BZZ is surrounded by Class D Airspace called a Control Zone or CTR.

The CTR extends from the ground up to 3500ft. This is important as a CTR requires clearance to fly into. https://t.co/7xDti1Ml6E

Tailored tooling and equipment was required for the project; one that had never been attempted before at such a remote location away from RAF Brize Norton. @LeadershipNext1 https://t.co/S05KHXZdvp
