11 reported fatalities today, that is the lowest number we have seen since the start of this pandemic. 530 new cases reported. At the peak, 744 & 559 fatalities were reported on Mondays. We're not out of the woods yet, but mercifully our situation has drastically improved.

It makes me so sad to think of all the people struggling through this by themselves. Loneliness is a cruel killer and sadly there are many people grieving alone right now. If you know someone going through that, please do try and reach out. It can make a huge difference.

I'm definitely seeing more litter around than I used to. Especially masks and takeaway cups. It's a real pet hate of mine. We live in a beautiful country, let's keep it that way. Putting your rubbish in a bin, or taking it home, is not difficult!

Some of the tweets I've had about cancer treatments being delayed are so sad. You don't need to be an oncologist to know that leaving cancer untreated for a prolonged period of time will cause harm in many cases. I'm expecting to have some very difficult conversations.

No sign of any uptick in the NHS Digital online data. I think it's fair to say that the demonstrations across the country did not lead to any spike in infections. Neither did the packed beaches etc. Opening the bars is a real test, the next fortnight is crucial.

We could all learn a thing or two about overcoming adversity from those brave people fighting cancer. These two fantastic ladies fighting cancer are doing a great job keeping their spirits up in @therutherford_c LINAC suite at RCC TV. https://t.co/x81WMBRGyP

Another busy week ahead - coffee, porridge, dog walk and I'm good to go. Monday mornings can sometimes feel like a drag, but feeling negative about it only makes it worse. It's going to be a good week!

As of today 1,477 people are in hospital in England with COVID-19.

Since the peak on the 12th April, the number of people in hospital has decreased 91.4% from 17,172 to 1,477.

Over the last 2 weeks the number of people in hospital has decreased 42.8% from 2,582 to 1,477. https://t.co/6rizrDmOKp

Sadly I fear this is only the beginning. @ProfKarolSikora, I dread to think how many lives we will lose because warnings were ignored. This really has to act as a wake up call. We're still not doing nearly enough. Keep shouting about it Karol. https://t.co/EicYpkJ5Ba

After yesterday's larger fatality figure the 7 day rolling average jumped up, today it dropped slightly. Sadly, so many of the deaths registered yesterday happened weeks ago. Caution required as always, but that higher number does seem to be data collection lag, not any spike.

21 reported fatalities today compared to 22 36 43 36 77 115 on previous Sundays. 650 new cases. The pubs and restaurants have now been open for over a week. The figures over the next 1/2 weeks are so crucial. Please try to be sensible!

I can honestly say in my half a century in medicine, I've never been as worried about cancer care as I am now. I'm trying everything. If 1 person signs this petition, nothing will change. But if 500k do, we can make a difference. Please sign & retweet! https://t.co/gwY9JxVKt4

Unfortunately there isn't much any of us can do individually to make the Government move quicker on the looming cancer crisis. @ProfKarolSikora is right though, together our voice can't be ignored. Signing the petition takes seconds, but if enough of us do it it will help. https://t.co/t7eUy2A09x

Getting called a 'fraud' by an anonymous profile with a cartoon dog for a picture does make me laugh (among others!) Surely Twitter needs some sort of ID verification system? I will offer Scooby Doo my sincerest apologies if it was actually him.

Thanks @ProfKarolSikora for reminding us that Cancer must not be the collateral of #COVID__19 - & for supporting my ❤️ Kelly. Recently I was welcomed to @therutherford_c in Reading - Nicola and I decided if you are going to do Cancer in the time of Covid, there’s only one way! 💃 https://t.co/50WopJrOdn

It's funny isn't it? A few months ago I had no idea what Twitter was, I thought it was the sound birds made! I say it a lot, but I genuinely want to thank all of you. The response has been amazing, my children are more surprised than I am! I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Thank you for sharing such an important message @ProfKarolSikora We really need to address the backlog of cancer patients that has been caused by #COVID__19 and help save lives Please sign and share the petition to #CatchUpWithCancer 👉https://t.co/s00XG6Io5k https://t.co/m2BOZHDvGq

The lower Friday fatality figure twinned with the high number yesterday could suggest a data reporting issue. A lot of backdating too. Honestly, the way our figures are reported is shambolic. Always late, erratic ups and downs, no proper testing figures. Very unhelpful.
