Small actions make a big difference. Keep taking smart steps to prevent COVID-19, including washing your hands, keeping your distance and wearing a face covering. #COVIDstopswithme https://t.co/UIqcezGDsY

A message from @ChiefNGB as we head into the Fourth of July holiday weekend. https://t.co/rgSN4VRlkK

We are proud to have done our small part in helping the state reach more than half a million tests conducted so far during the COVID-19 pandemic.

These numbers include community testing completed over Memorial Day Weekend and the ongoing testing we are conducting in support of the @mnhealth at more than 100 long-term care facilities throughout the state.

Since May 14, the @MNNationalGuard has been doing our part to support the state's goal of increased COVID-19 testing. So far our Soldiers and Airmen have administered more than 50,000 tests to Minnesotans across the state. https://t.co/WzWHpShhFx

Vessey served in all enlisted ranks, from private to first sergeant, before obtaining a battlefield commission and rising to the rank of four-star general during his more than four decades of service.

Gen. John W. Vessey, Jr. was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 29, 1922. Upon his retirement in 1985, he had served longer than anyone then in the Army, with over 46 years of active military service.

As a dedicated servant to his country, Vessey dedicated his life to military service, volunteering for the Minnesota Army National Guard in 1939 and going on to serve in WWII and the Vietnam War, and holding military posts in Germany, Korea, and as a special emissary to Vietnam.

According to Minnesota state statute, June 29 is designated as General John Vessey Day. Gen. John Vessey was a four-star general in the @USArmy and served as the tenth Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. https://t.co/E0bEMtmbub
