The Indians are still evaluating their options w/ what disciplinary measures to take with Zach Plesac. They also don't need a fifth starter until Aug. 22, so they were already considering sticking Plesac in the bullpen or optioning him to Lake County for a bit.

Story updated with quote from Plesac on July 3: “There are common sense situations, where you see things are packed, or going out to the bars and drinking — doing stuff like that isn’t stuff that’s really important to us right now and shouldn’t be important to us right now.” https://t.co/BTKSYeHT1D

This is important information from manager Mike Shildt about how #STLCards with Covid are doing. These are healthy, young professional athletes who have had to visit emergency rooms. Let’s take this virus seriously, everyone. https://t.co/QBaguVe6v5

#STLCards players are being informed today that the team will not be assembling for at least 3-5 days and to get in workouts on their own, per source. Pittsburgh series likely will be canceled.

MLB officially announced the postponement of the Cubs-Cardinals series, due to additional positive tests from the Cardinals. @Ken_Rosenthal updates us on their situation & MLB's new health & safety protocols: https://t.co/Om0b8pJy9V

MLB officially announces postponement of Cubs-Cardinals series and says two additional STL players and a staff member have tested positive in samples collected the past two days. Brings total of positive tests with club to 16 - nine players, seven staffers.

Quoted @Ken_Rosenthal

From MLB: 13 of 13,043 samples from COVID-19 testing in past week (0.1 percent) were new positives - 7 players, 6 staffers. Some followers make point that more accurate breakdown would be by number of players/staffers, not samples. For now, these are numbers league is providing.

Correction: The numbers are provided jointly by MLB and the Players Association. https://t.co/4NyJ4gM3zH

Confirmed: Cubs-Cardinals weekend series postponed. Cubs to fly home tonight. Next scheduled to play Tuesday in Cleveland.

So, the #Cardinals, if they are to play a 60-game schedule, now would have to play 55 games in 49 days. That assumes they play the Pirates Monday, far from a given. https://t.co/eyHxQNYMWa

Indians hitting coach Ty Van Burkleo is opting out of the 2020 season.

Regarding Kevin Cash’s complaints re: electronic sign-stealing rules, MLB and the MLBPA agreed that players should have some in-game access to video — once technology is implemented to edit out catchers’ signs. Whether that’s done this year or next is TBD. https://t.co/1GZ4G7k7RI
