President Trump’s meandering mean-spirited speech las night was about as unifying as a Yankees chant at Fenway Park. It will be seen by history as a desultory exclamation point to the past, as America begins a new, brighter, and more just paragraph in our national narrative.

This is a July 4 of pain, uncertainty, and reckoning. I pause with open eyes, and an open heart. I am listening. I am moved. I am angry. I am determined. I see hope. I see action. I see ingenuity. My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, to thee (to all of thee) I sing.

Doing a re-read of What Unites Us by @DanRather was exactly what I needed right now, especially today when folks are standing up and seeing the power of the people and the power of dissent. Keep fighting for a better future for our country, friends. https://t.co/PcSbsYcnif

No sir. The America I know and love doesn’t surrender, doesn’t give up. If you can’t do it, let’s find others who can. https://t.co/MAtAYiP8FE

Oh I get it. This apparently is President Trump’s definition of “winning.”

Watching Hamilton during this pandemic and thinking: It would be nice, it would be nice to have Washington (D.C.) on our side.

Being in a long-term relationship requires a recognition of nuance. When your partner says something, and your response is "possibly that's true, dear" make sure you add the "dear."  (Learned from experience)

I didn't start out to do much yesterday.. . mission accomplished.

Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a mask on it

Guys, I am 43 1/2 and it is still REALLY FUN to sit in my car inside a car wash.

Let me tell you, it NEVER gets old... https://t.co/DUeLCDuUm2

I encourage everyone to read a book Dan Rather wrote a few years ago, “What Unites Us”. It is perfect for the recent times and to take a look at how we can come together with those who have different opinions for the good of the country. @DanRather #United #Compromise #Patriotism https://t.co/WbcaMXLOeC

This story once was a blip on the news cycle. It deserves much, much more attention. An amazing job of reporting. A must read and/or watch. Share, if you please. https://t.co/03qQuJZrfL

Breaking: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has issued a nearly statewide mask mandate. The order requires "all Texans to wear a face covering over the nose and mouth in public spaces in counties with 20 or more positive COVID-19 cases, with few exceptions." https://t.co/i8aKmUZIxx

I hope we are finally getting to a point where mask wearing is no longer "political." I also am thinking of all the lives that could have been saved if we got here earlier. https://t.co/W7o0yx9aKm

Trump on resurgence of virus as cases are spiking in several states: “We are putting out that life because it’s a bad life that we’re talking about.”

Could someone please translate? Even after all these years, I am only semi-fluent in Trumpish. (Maybe enough to order a cheeseburger). https://t.co/WYs7t5KJJz

Defeating this virus can be done. It will require leaders who listen to the science, are honest, promote a shared sense of sacrifice, and have humility. Sadly, we are being undermined by far too much ignorance, passing the buck, dishonesty, fecklessness, and selfishness.

So we have reached a place in the proud history of our republic when the topic of the day is whether the president reads. When, really, I think deep down don't we all know the answer?

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of show business legend Carl Reiner. An innovator, entertainer and beloved icon, his nearly century of life was like a roadmap through American culture. His wit and courage never left him. My heartfelt condolences to his family.
