I’m preparing a lecture on Isaac Newton, which means it’s time to reread @rmathematicus debunking the myth of Newton’s “miracle” plague year. https://t.co/QjyrWXUXK5

I just re-read a paper that I first read in 1990, when I started my PhD. The expression never made sense to me, as it was all complex notation etc. And it just clicked. I know exactly what it means. It is a weird feeling….

Had a great chat with @Cosmic_Horizons and @lukebarnesastro about their book "Cosmic Revolutionary Handbook @CRHandbook " as well as other science stuff. Stay tuned for the book review and interview https://t.co/EqM3VCRNbt

@Cosmic_Horizons A laugh for a Monday morning. I've been one of these. Watch until the end. https://t.co/dRebFNqwHc😁

Another chat with @DoctorKarl - “The latest on Dark Matter. Is it evenly spread ? Are there Dark Halos ? Galactic contact - fact or fiction ? Big questions with the best answers we have at the moment. (Trigger Warning - ep includes Dark Light)” https://t.co/NroLBFop9B

Wow - so glad there is nothing happening in the world so this fluff can be the head story @smh - Save you a click - yes, Aldi is cheaper.

I wonder if there is a back story behind this ad - I mean story. https://t.co/iN4nR8OBHV

One of the fun things about working with immense datasets is that you realise that computer systems have a little catching up to do… https://t.co/qPu890pJG0

@Cosmic_Horizons @OwsWills @AskingAmy The original I read in Catalan about Catalan, but works equally nicely in and about so many languages: "There's people who dislike others speaking, writing or thinking in Welsh. They're the same who dislike people speaking, writing or thinking" (Ovidi Montllor, from Cardiff)

Some cool ongoing research with @lukebarnesastro looking at the fiery physics of the Big Bang - Some exciting “what ifs” about the nature of the universe. Paper coming soon!

Did you know that the Cosmic Microwave Background was hotter in the past? Your revolutionary new cosmic theory better explain this! @lukebarnesastro and I discuss this in @CRHandbook https://t.co/dtV8gaQpbC

Some don’t seem to understand that asking “what if?” questions is key aspect of science. The de Broglie hypothesis is a prime example of this, a what if that was later demonstrated by experiment. Don’t be afraid of what ifs…

Gosh, it was 21 years ago that I did the lens modelling for the optical Einstein ring ER 0047-2808 (first optical ER found)
