The answer to yesterday’s Wound Wednesday is Local infection, spreading infection all require antimicrobial intervention

⁣When a wound gets infected, the stages are:
⁣Contamination - Colonisation - Local infection - Spreading infection - Systemic infection. ⁣

Vigilance is essential to treating the wound in the early stages. But at what stages is antimicrobial intervention required? https://t.co/0zycWbrpJq

Infection is almost inevitable in non-healing wounds – and it inevitably delays healing.

Only through the focus and interest of clinicians and researchers can better treatment standards be achieved.

In developing Biatain Fiber we collaborated with more than 200 HCPs to better understand current wound care challenges. We then carefully designed our new gelling fiber to aim at solving these clinical challenges. We hope you will enjoy working with this innovative new dressing https://t.co/ap98kOxQDa

Wounds with tunnelling and wounds with undermining may both increase the risk of dead space, increasing the risk of exudate pooling. Tunneling only involves a small portion of the wound edge, whereas undermining involves a significant portion of the wound edge.

It’s Wound Wednesday!

We’re talking about two types of wounds: wounds with tunnelling and wounds with undermining.

Here’s where we’d like to hear from YOU! Do you see exudate pooling in both tunnelling and undermining wounds? https://t.co/FWXgEI8ggr

We asked a group of healthcare professionals about their top considerations when selecting a wound dressing.

They recommended focusing on the dressing's ability to:
· Conform to the wound bed
· Absorb exudate
· Keep the wound edge & periwound skin healthy

What would you add? https://t.co/vjOniZY7lH

Wound dressings should not disintegrate when removed. Dressings that leave residues in the wound disturb & prolong healing & can cause pain. The wet tensile strength of Biatain Fiber with HexaLock Technology ensures easy, one-piece removal. Go to https://t.co/8eqLgbtDqk. https://t.co/sUbsbZQRSt
